Schwinn 240 Recumbent Exercise Bike

Overview (5/5): Very solid/well built piece of equipment, comfortable and easier on my knees than most gym bikes due to the seat, pedal, handle bar positioning, pretty easy to assemble (~10 min for 11 nuts/bolts), all the tools for assembly are included, great overall value, a welcome addition to my growing home gym

I bought this bike so that I could do my daily cardio workouts at home without having to make a trip to the gym. Since I received it I've been using it pretty much every day and I've been very happy with it.

Build Quality (5/5): Build quality was my first criteria when looking for a bike (other than price of course) since I will be using the bike on a near daily basis. At first impression, am quite pleased with the build quality. As the first reviewer said, it is easy to assemble. It took me about 20 minutes out of the box. The instructions are excellent and the packaging was impressive. I am a former Spin instructor and trainer, plus triathlete and have ridden studio spin bikes, etc. This at-home bike frame and fly wheel is solid. That said, I did notice that the brake pad could be more robust and the plastic rat-trap pedals, well, will be swaping those out at some point for a SPD. The seat is your typical wide body, so a cyclist probably will also want to swap that out. Bottom line: if your budget cannot afford the pricey LeMond or if you are tired of trying to place your road or tri bike into a trainer stand, or if you are just starting out with spin or cycling and have a tight budget, this is an affordable home option. It will be interesting to see if after a winter of use, if this product stands up to the first impression.

I am not a perfectionist but I am not impressed with this bike. It is too heavy to be returned to Amazon.com for FAILURE to provide enough description for this bike. This is where the Brick and Mortar store shines.

Yes, the bike's body may be built with heavy steel, and has the look and feel of a professional training bike, but once you sit on it and start pedaling you will immediately feel that there is something wrong with it.

First of all this bike is not quiet. The flywheel is NOT SOLID. It is filled with SAND OR SOME SORT OF LOOSE MATERIAL. So for every rotation the flywheel makes you can hear this material shifting...not recommended for something this heavy to spin at high speed, as it will produce vibration and sound. Furthermore, the bearing for the flywheel is not smooth and very loud. It is impossible to workout and watch TV and expect to understand everything!

Sorry to spoil the excitement, but this bike has some design flaws.
